Photos Deleted from Memory Card after Putting It in Different Camera

"I have a memory card for my Nikon digital camera, but the camera was broken several weeks ago. So I bought another Nikon digital camera. Considering the memory card contains lots of important photos and still has much free space, I insert the memory card to my new digital camera. Today, when I use my new digital camera to take pictures, it says there is no memory card inserted. Then, I take out the memory card and reinsert it again. This time, my digital camera can recognize the memory card normally, and I can also use it to take pictures. However, the problem is that I cannot find any picture on the memory card. The memory card becomes empty. I tried to connect the card to my PC, and I cannot found those pictures too.
