Unreadable External Hard Drive Recovery - HDD External Hard Drive Corrupted and Unreadable

What Should You Do When External Hard Drive Is Not Readable on Your Computer?

What should you do if your external hard drive is unreadable when you connect it to your computer? Don’t hesitate to perform a data recovery on the external hard drive instead of formatting the external hard drive. When your external hard drive is unreadable, the files inside the drive may be corrupt or infected with virus. If you don’t perform data recovery as soon as possible, the data will probably be lost. How can you recover those data from the not readable external hard drive? External drive recovery software would be a good choice since it is free and it enables you to recover any data from a not readable external hard drive.

How to Make the External Hard Drive Readable?
I have recommended some external drive recovery programs in this article. You can choose any of them to go about data recovery. The general steps on how to use these two programs can be concluded as below.
Step1. Plug the external hard drive to your computer. Free download and install the external drive recovery software to your computer. Go to one recovery module.
Step2. Choose the external hard drive and start scanning.
Step3. Preview found files after scanning.
Step4. Recover and store all selected files you need to your computer hard disk rather than the external hard drive.

Similar Situations with Not Readable Message on External Hard Drive
The unreadable issues may occur for many kinds of reasons. The unreadable issue on an external hard drive has some similar characters with any of the following situation:
* External hard drive not formatted error
* External hard drive RAW problem
* External hard drive is not accessible
* External hard drive is not recognized
* External hard drive is not detected
* I/O error on external hard drive
* Write error
* Read error
When your external hard drive has any issue above, the method to get data off the drive is the same with what you do when your external hard drive shows not readable issue.

User’s Experiences on External Hard Drive Not Readable Error
Can anybody give me some suggestion to help me get data off a not readable external hard drive? I think the reason for my external hard drive shows not readable issue is that I unplug it from my computer while transferring some files into it. Now when I reconnect the external hard drive to my computer, it says it’s not readable and corrupted. I right click on the external hard drive and I can only get the option to format the drive. I don’t want to format the drive because there are many important files inside. What should I do to get data off the external hard drive?
